Prepositions 



1- Preposition Definition in English:

- Preposition : a word or phrase that is used before a noun or pronoun to show time , place , direction ...like at , in ,out of,for...


2- Preposition of Time Uses and Examples:



AAt:is used to talk about a point in time "hours ,day and with some expressions"

Examples :


at 8:30 - at breakfast- at lunch - at dinner  -at 9 o'clock -at night- at noon- at the weekends -at the moment - at the same time 


BOn :is used for days and dates  


Examples :



 on holiday - on weekend - on my birthday - on January  4th - on Monday - on Sunday  afternoon


C- In:used to talk about a time period " season -year - month  "

Examples :

in the middle of the day - in 5 hours - in a few weeks - in 2012 - in January - in the winter - in summer  - in the morning - in afternoon - in evening


3- Preposition of Place Uses and Examples:



A- At:
is used to talk about places we go to see people or do something .

Examples :

at the end of the road -at the store - at the door - at home - at the bus stop - at the doctor's - at school 

B- On :is used talk about things on top of other things or talk about open spaces  


Examples : 


on a tree - on a field - on a plain - on a farm  on the wall - on the table 

 C- In:is used to talk about places around us or closed places

Examples :

 in a taxi - in a room - in Amsterdam - in Los Angeles

4- More Preposition of Place Examples:

in front of  - far away from in front of  - on the corner  - far away from in the middle / center - over - behind -near / by  / next to - inside  - at the top  - below / under / beneath - outside - at the bottom  

Note : We use Prepositions " by " to express the means of transportation: by taxi - by bus - by car
